The first thing you want to do when creating a male torso is to look at the shapes again. Notice how it look very similar to the figure on the basic shapes page. Well, this is all you need to get started. Let's move on.

Details

Add a few curves and then you're pretty much done. Wasn't that easy?
Okay, now let's look at the details. First, if you want to make the guy muscular, put some straight lines right above where the ribcage ends. The abs take up more space than a girl's boobs, but they are much flatter and less curvy. The other major muscle line is below the curvy line. It is a little squiggly and is supposed to be the six-pack. You don't want to draw every single line of the six-pack unless you really want it to be defined, because this detracts attention from the face and other more important parts of the anatomy. Also, look at the upside-down U that you see below the abs. This is the diaphragm and is placed right where the ribcage ends, in the center. Because this is a quarter view, it is not a a perfect upside-down U, but slopes more on the left side. Finally, look at the pecs.(wow I don't believe I'm actually doing this) They are more half circles than full circles, because, once again, you don't want to detract from the important parts. All in all, you don't really want to put in too much detail or make it look strained. Just relax and make it look natural.

Note:
For some reason, the belly button for guys is always very close to the pant line. Maybe guys just wear their pants higher, but you should try to give it this look.

Put a shirt on!

Don't be afraid to get creative with clothing. You should still have some of the detail lines from before, but once again, don't go crazy. Keep it limited.

NOTE 1: Unless the shirt is incredibly loose, don't put on too many fold lines. We'll talk about that more once we get to the clothing tutorial.

NOTE 2: I cannot stress this enough: CLOTHING COMES OFF OF THE BODY!!!!!! Well, unless he's wearing spandex. But once you draw a shirt on, you need it to be a little bit farther off than the actual skin.
